Abigail traces her path from a quiet demeanor to pushing beyond her comfort zone and advocating for others by speaking out even when it is uncomfortable.
Her role as student representative on the local school board and a member of the Maine State Board of Education Student Cabinet, enabled her to hone her skills in listening and mediating. She is successful at making change through her negotiation skills.
As a volunteer at Maine Medical Center in the telemetry unit, Abigail used her ability to be present with people to instill trust and safety that lessens the loneliness and anxiety that patients experience. She learned that small intentional acts of care have a positive and lasting impact on others. Abigail hopes to be a part of a change in the current health care system so that more people are able to access services and get the health care they need.
She will attend Northeastern University majoring in Public Health.
