Mainely Character Scholarships are awarded to the individuals who best demonstrate these four core principles of exemplary character:

  • Concern:  Communicating compassion and a caring attitude toward others.
  • Responsibility:  Demonstrating commitment and conviction through your actions.
  • Integrity:  Being truthful and trustworthy to oneself and others.
  • Courage: Persisting through difficulty, distress, or fear in order to achieve something important.

Please do not write general statements about character in your application. We want to hear about you. The application is YOUR opportunity to tell us about YOUR character in YOUR own words.

Information from applications may be used for research purposes – to better understand the challenges of Maine high school seniors.  In this case the information will be aggregated, analyzed and reported anonymously.
