He is making his community a better place, one neighbor at a time.

For David, volunteering as a firefighter is a family tradition. He joined  the Morrill VFD since freshman year, accumulating more than 100 hours of service in training activities and firefighting. Once he was called out at 2:30 AM for a fire at a large Chinese restaurant where 10 people lived upstairs.  Because only three or four other firemen responded and they were short handed, David had to go up the ladder for his first time outside of training. He was proud of his role, despite being terrified. David cut and stacked enough wood for two families every year . He kept a wood boiler going for his family all winter and started his own landscaping business. He began wrestling in grade six and  was captain of the wrestling team as a senior. He enrolled in a welding certification program at Washington County Community College.
