Jared Conant

$5000 Bristol Seafood
2022 Yarmouth High School

“Every day I strive to be the best person I can be.”

For his 10th birthday, Jared asked for donations of food to the local pantry. Since then, his annual food drive has raised $16,500 and collected 14,500 pounds of food.

Jared has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and now uses a wheelchair, but that has not slowed him down. He’s an active member of the varsity soccer team, encouraging and inspiring others from the sidelines.  Teams arrange for him to play in at least one game a year – and his teammates chose him to be captain.

Seven years ago, Jared organized a pre-season boys JV soccer tournament, the Conant Cup, because they do not get to play as much.  Since then, the Conant Cup has raised $38,000 for Muscular Dystrophy research and for camp scholarships to support students with MD. Because of Jared’s success, area coaches continue the tournament and include female teams next year.
